Good Afternoon, Thomas Paine Community,

I hope everyone is having a restful summer and staying cool!  Thomas Paine Elementary School is buzzing with activity.  Here are a few highlights:

-Camp Paine is in full swing.  The campers are learning a lot and having fun!

-We have a new GaGa Pit, courtesy of a local Eagle Scout.  It is a bit smaller than our current pit, so our younger students will have a blast enjoying this high energy sport!

-Kindergarten furniture is arriving for our full-day program this year.  Our maintenance staff is busy getting our building in tip-top shape for September.

Please keep in mind a few important dates:

-July 31st - Mid-Summer Book Swap with our PTA at Thomas Paine, 6:30.

-August 28th - Popsicles with the Principal at Thomas Paine, 6:00.

-August 29th - Kindergarten Open House, 1:00.

Have a lovely mid-July week,

Melissa Gleason, M.Ed

Dear Thomas Paine Family Members,
I am so honored to introduce myself as the new principal of Thomas Paine Elementary School. I am embarking on this journey as I enter my 18th year in education. Twelve of those years have been spent in the Bellmawr School District in various settings including special education, general education, and as the vice principal. I look forward to learning about the Thomas Paine community and sharing my core values with you.

As the newest member of the Thomas Paine family, I will continue the work set forth by Dr. Rickansrud and the Thomas Paine staff members. Our focus will continue to create a learning community based on the principles of respect, responsibility, resilience, and citizenship. I, along with all staff members, will continue to provide a rigorous and engaging learning environment for all Thomas Paine learners. We are entering a partnership together. I am committed to working with your children to help them develop into open-minded, kind citizens. We are on this journey together and I encourage you to take an active role in our PTA and all school events.

This school year will be a new and exciting time for all of us. Please consider joining me, the PTA, and some members of the faculty at the Summer Reading Book Swap at Thomas Paine Elementary School on July 31st at 6:30pm. During this casual and fun get together, you will have the opportunity to connect with me and with your school community. Additionally, feel free to bring books to swap with other students to freshen up your summer reading selections! Free Kona Ice, sponsored by our CHEA, will be provided for all students. It is sure to be a wonderful evening!

I look forward to meeting and working with you this school year. If you have any questions or concerns, please never hesitate to contact our main office.

Have a lovely 4th of July!

Warm regards,

Melissa Gleason
